Prayer for women

On International Women’s Day, I sat down to pray for some of the women in my life. I began thinking of the woman described in the later verses of Proverbs 31. Does it describe a perfect woman in different seasons of her life or the best aspects of many amazing women and/or the Church itself as the future bride of Christ?

It sparked the thought of the all the roles my friends and I play as part of being women.

Dear Father in heaven,
Today I bring before you, my Soul Sisters
the clan of those who quietly straighten another’s crooked crown,
the child-raising mama bears,
the faithful worshippers (even when we worship through You through pain and fire),
the women who are made to feel like they are too much, but also somehow feel never quite good enough,
the joyful dancers,
the women weighed down by cares/illness/grief,
the women who (without taking into account their own journeys), champion, support, and encourage the journeys and victories of women around them,
the women leaders,
the unseen/unrecognised pillars of strength and encouragement,
the passionate trailblazers,
the imaginative dreamers,
the wise and steady,
the gap-standing Intercessors,
the pearl finders,
the prophets,
Priestesses and princesses.
May all these beautiful women learn to live as you created them to be.

May they steer away from comparison which we recognise as the thief of joy.

May they love you more deeply as they grow in intimacy with you
May they have sure and certain clarity of their calling and service in these days.

May they see you and your glory as you speak truth to their hearts and answer your call to sacrifice for the sake of you, king of you kings, Jesus And may the expansion of your kingdom here on earth be seen among the women in our family & communities as we recognise the love and dignity you gave to the women you met while here on earth. In your strong and powerful name of Jesus

Amen
