What do you see?

A few weeks ago, this was the view from my backdoor.

What does it look like to you? Do you grasp an insight into the glory of what has once been my ‘pride & Joy’ vegetable patch? It was planned out & discussed at length among the family. I remember the day we bought the sleepers with my parents help and then the hubby put them in place. We have both toiled over it in years past & received exciting harvests and some bitter disappointments (most of which were slug related!!). The kids have hidden in there & snacked on fresh fruits or sneakily shelled bright green peas from their pods. My best memory is digging for little nuggets of gold potatoes, immediately cooking them and enjoying them with melting butter – delicious!

To my dogs it simply appears to be one big toilet, dogs just live for the moment don’t they? I also like their philosophy of dealing with some new issue in their space – have a good sniff and if in any doubt just pee on it & walk away.

Maybe you don’t see any hint of past glories or any present use but you see future potential. There are a few raspberries there just waiting for some late summer sun to become my favourite berry. Strawberry plants too. This years blueberries were a disaster too hot & dry too early/too wet & cold later! But they should come again next year if they are protected from the frost. There is potential here for growth & reward but in its current state it needs a lot of work invested.

However, it doesn’t look like that at all any more and while I have rescued a few of my favourite berry bushes – it now looks like this!

Yes, I have said goodbye to my ‘patch’ as it was fondly known and in its place I am getting a brand new ‘craft studio’ (sounds so much more exciting than a craft room). My craft studio …

I will keep you updated as to it’s progress but as you see things are moving quickly and whilst it is stressful with all the dust and noise, I’m very excited about this new room!
