Although I live in the village of Hillsborough I went to school in Lisburn and even though it is now officially a ‘city’ I think of it as my hometown. I don’t get to go to in to Lisburn as often as I want but I was there recently on a dreary day when I took out my camera and tried to capture some of its centre.

This is my favourite image from that day. I don’t know how it happened but after I started taking photos the fountain lights came on, giving a different perspective from a similar viewpoint.

The city centre has recently been the subject of an upgrade with new lights & the fountains.

This light commemorates the 2002 decision of granting Lisburn city status. I thought I had taken a photo of the light celebrating Wallace’s dedication to the city but I haven’t -a good reason to go back with my camera on another day. Preferably one where the sky is not grey.

A grey sky reflected in a grey puddle.

But I liked these little features and the rippling reflection of the museum.
I’m not very confident at including people in my street photography but I’m keen to go back again & try some more photography – maybe in the Christmas throngs with the lights up.
