What do you love about where you live?
Northern Ireland often gets in the news for all the wrong reasons and our political upheavals in the last 50years have caused much terror, suffering and death.
However, like a phoenix from the ashes, many people here want peace and are working for better days ahead.
The village where I live houses a royal residence where King. Charles stays when he is in Northern Ireland.
There’s a beautiful church built in the 1750s and still in use today dedicated to St Malachy.
But the main reason I love living in this village is the local forest park.
It’s beautiful in all seasons
Autumn
Winter
Spring

Summer

The Hillsborough Forest Park as it’s known has a car park, a great kid’s play park, a choice of walks, a lake, a forest and an old fort. as well as recent additions of ‘modern art’ sculptures – to be honest they do nothing for me but the local council spent quite a bit on installing them.
Say as I write this the last visit I made to the park this week I was saddened to see this beautiful lake choking in the bloom of blue green algae. So sad.
I didn’t see any dragonflies starting about near the bridge and there were noticeable fewer swans and ducks. I hope something can be done in the future to stop this from being an annual event.
